This
project was one of the biggest I have ever done, and definitely the longest
paper I have had to write. At the
beginning, when looking for literary critisisms on my book, it was very
difficult since my book had just recently come out, but I was able to use
school resources and ask a few friends for help. With all the different components
of this project I tried to isolate them and do them individually but in the
end, all parts are connected and I ended up doing many things at the same time.
This made it especially hard as it got slightly confusing.
I had a
rough start to this project. Although I had a schedule to do things, I found it
very hard to focus for some reason and quickly go behind. It quickly snowballed
after that. I won’t add too many details, but it took quite some time to catch
up. I was not able to put my very best foot forward this time around but I
still did learn a lot, especially since this project included my very first
research paper.
During
this project, while looking for sources I kept running into sources about the
psychology within my book, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter. In the end I did
incorporate a few psychological components as it went very well with the
overall theme of my presentation, I would have tried to find a few more sources
that actually discuss the English usage in my book, and especially ones that
try to relate the books to the author.
As for
other presentations, I thought everyone did a very good job leading into their
subjects with a very interesting introduction. I thought the entire class also
did a great job finding something within their book that connected with them,
and they were able to analyze with genuine interest.
If I
could change anything, I would have like to speak more and hear more upon what
was entailed in each of my essays, but I understand that there was a time requirement.
The next time I try to write a research paper I hope I can be a little more
organized, and really think through everything before I begin write. I think
this assignment has helped me greatly in understanding how and author’s writing
style can really change a book, much like how a certain director can make or
break a movie. Although I am not taking the AP Lit test, I believe this project
will certainly help other students in their analyzation of multiple choice
questions and writing the essays, in particular, the open question.
